Admin, Manager, and Operator Roles

Set your User's Roles so that you can ensure that the right Users have the right access to your account.

Understanding User Roles

When you add a Teammate to your MessageDesk account, you are required to give them a Role.

What is a Role?

A Role in MessageDesk is a way to set you're User's access level to the account. By assigning a Role to a user, you can limit their ability to delete contacts, modify settings, etc.

Changing User Roles

You set your User's Role when you invite them to your MessageDesk account. But if you're wondering, "How can I change this User's role?" then we can show you exactly how!

  1. Navigate to the Team page in the lower left corner of your MessageDesk account.

  2. Click on the pencil icon that appears next to the Teammate you are trying to manage.

  3. Select Edit Teammate.

  4. Select the Role listed on the User profile to change the Role they currently have.

Permissions for each Role

Admin Permissions

As an Admin you have the most power and versatility. There is only one admin account permitted for each company. The reason for this is because they are the only ones that have access to secure features, like billing. Several actions are available to you on top of the manager and operator roles, including:

  • Updating Payment Information

  • Updating Customer Settings

  • Creating Custom Fields

  • SMS Settings

  • Setting Up Auto-Billing

  • Updating Utilities

  • Restarting Setup

  • Adding a New Company Account

  • Receiving Notifications for Completed Task

Manager Permissions

As a manager you have all the abilities of an Operator, and more!

  • Create and Edit Groups

  • Have Full Document Access

  • Upload Company-Wide Documents

  • Upload Individual Customer Documents

  • Create and Assign Tasks For Both Customers and Team Members

  • View Unassigned and Completed Tasks

  • Update Intuit QuickBooks

  • Invite and Edit Users

  • Assign Roles

Operator Permissions

Starting at the base of the structure are your Operators, the very core of your business. As an operator, you have access to a wide variety of functionalities, including:

  • Joining Groups

  • Viewing and Completing Assigned Tasks

  • Sending Private Messages and Broadcast Sends

  • Create/Edit Message Templates

  • Viewing Customer Documents
