Below, we've outlined the different MessageDesk actions compatible with Zapier. For each action, there are certain "parameters" to be aware. Those are listed below as well.

Add or Update a Contact

Enables a Zapier "Zap" to Add or Update a Contact in your MessageDesk workspace.

A contact is Updated if a match is found when providing a value of update_field (Name, email, phone number). If no match is found, a new contact is created


Parameters:

1. Contact Phone Number [REQUIRED FIELD]

The mobile phone number of the contact being created or updated.

2. Contact Last Name

The last name of the contact being created or updated.

3. Contact First Name

The first name of the contact being created or updated.

4. Contact Email

The email address of the contact.

Update Field

The key that our API will match on to update existing contacts. If left empty, no updates will occur and a new contact will be created each time this action runs. (i.e. if "update_field" is set to "Phone Number" then we will search for any contacts in your workspace that have the same value for their phone number as provided in this action. If matches are found, we update those existing contacts instead of creating a new contact).

Workspace REQUIRED

The subdomain or Company Name belonging to the workspace you want to create/update contacts in.


Add Contact to Group

Adds a contact to a specific group in MessageDesk. Ideal usage is in a multi-step Zap coming after an “Add or Update a Contact” action.

Parameters:

1. Contact ID REQUIRED

The ID of the contact that will be added to a group. This can be found by first using the "Create or Update" contact Zap in this workflow.

2. Group REQUIRED

The group the contact will be added to. You can find this information by going into your MessageDesk workspace and choosing a group from the Group's module.

3. Workspace REQUIRED

The subdomain or Company Name belonging to the workspace you want to add contacts to groups in.


Remove Contact from Group

Removes a contact from a specific group in MessageDesk. Ideal usage is in a multi-step Zap coming after an “Add or Update a Contact” action.

Parameters


Contact ID REQUIRED

The ID of the contact that will be removed from a group.


Group REQUIRED

The group the contact will be removed from.


Workspace REQUIRED

The subdomain belonging to the workspace you want to remove contacts from groups in.


Send Message to Contact

Send a message in MessageDesk to a contact based on their mobile phone number. If there are multiple contacts with the same number, it will send a message to each contact.

Parameters


1. Contact Phone Number REQUIRED

The mobile phone number of the contact who will receive a message.

2. Message Text REQUIRED

The text that will be sent to the contact in the message.

3. Workspace REQUIRED

The subdomain belonging to the workspace you want to send messages to contacts in.
