In your MessageDesk inbox you may see different color messages. These different colors and icons signify who or what sent the message to your contact.

Most of the time, you'll be sending manual text messages which show up as a purple message. The "icon" will tell you which person on your team sent it.

But, don't be surprised if you see automated messages pop-up too! These will appear as a dark gray message. These messages aren't sent by a teammate but instead triggered by an action your contact took. In this case, the contact just filled out a form and then got a message sent to them.

These automated messages can be triggered a couple of ways in MessageDesk. I've listed the different features below that can do this!

  1. Form Messages: Triggered when a contact submits one of your MessageDesk forms

  2. Autoresponders: Triggered once a contact replies with a "Keyword" you've set up

  3. Broadcasts: Messages that were sent as part of a Broadcast your team created

Each of these features send a different "Message type" that are easily distinguishable by unique icons that appear on the right side of the message.

1. Form Messages

Form messages are automated thank-you messages that are sent to your contacts after they fill out a form.

These messages are displayed in your inbox with a form symbol on the right-hand side. To update or manage these messages simply go to Plugins -> Forms or click on the form icon directly πŸ˜„

2. Autoresponders

Autoresponder messages are autoresponse text messages triggered by your contact when they reply with a keyword.

These messages are displayed in your inbox in a dark gray box, with a lightning symbol on the right-hand side.

3. User Messages

User messages are personal messages that you manually send to your customers.

These messages are displayed in your inbox in a purple box, with your profile picture on the right-hand side.

4. Broadcasts

Broadcast messages are group-text-without-reply-all messages that you send to customizable groups of contacts. This means multiple contacts received this same message at once.

These messages are displayed in your inbox in a dark gray box, with a loudspeaker symbol on the right-hand side.
