Search for Contacts, Groups or Messages from a single search experience in MessageDesk.

Introduction

Global search lets you quickly find contacts, conversations or groups from a single search input.


Searching Contacts:

  • Search contacts by name, email or phone by typing in a value

  • Narrow search to specific fields, like custom fields, by typing the field name and the desired value you want to search

Search Specific Fields:

  1. Enter the field name into the search bar

  2. Type ":" after the field name

  3. Enter the value of the field

In the image below, I'm searching for contacts with field "Test Drop" equal to "Green"

Click on a contact to navigate to their conversation in the Inbox


Searching Messages:

Search messages over the last 30 days by clicking the search icon -> messages -> entering a value.

Search for failed Messages.


Search Use Cases

  1. Find a recent conversation by typing in a message

  2. Find a contact based on their custom field

  3. Find a group based on their membership count

  4. See what messages failed recently

  5. See what contacts have been reached recently

Best Practices

  • Use specific search phrases:

    • Good Search example: (775) 853-4555

    • Bad Search example: (775

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why can't I find a message?

    • The global search only searches for conversations from the last 30 days. If there are no results for your search, you'll be prompted to extend the search to your entire message history

  • Why aren't any search results showing?

    • It's possible your search experience hasn't synced with your MessageDesk database correctly. Please email us at support@messagedesk.com to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Is the search case sensitive?

    • No, you can enter your search values in any format, as long as it matches the fields your searching for.
